Kristen Stewart

I was sitting with my buddies at Bully’s the other night and the conversation somehow came around to Kristen Stewart. They were unified in expressing their actress hatred for her. Before even contemplating opening my mouth I realized quickly that I was on exile island.

It was ironic because the very next night I got my Breaking Dawn II fix for the first time since I saw it on opening night last Fall. I wrote a post about that here. So, I decided to swerve around the talk and changed the round table conversation to another topic.

As I was driving home it got me to thinking. Is she hated because of her acting? Her much ballyhooed personal life? Or is it just bad writing and direction that she was a victim to act to? The five part film series made a kabillion dollars so she must have been doing something right. I thought she was smoking hot in Breaking Dawn II and I enjoyed her acting. Throughout the series she brought an initially innocent curiosity to a dark world.

So, why do you love or hate her?

I have been told (many times) that I really need to write a book about my life. The past 50+ years have been an exciting ride, and these days I find myself with a great many passions. However, I feel that this website is a much more personal way with which to share my musings, stories and commentary.

  1. Not a fan of hers. It’s all about Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner that brought in most of that money. Girls swoon for hot guys, especially when they take off their shirts in the movie. i swoon for hot guys with a British accent (even though he didn’t use it)

    • I fancy a bird who likes a British accent. That’s awesome, Jenn! Very good point on the guys in the movie 🙂

  2. Terrible actress. Zero range of emotion. Perhaps she will improve over time.

Personal life. Young and made at least one substantial mistake that ended up being very public – the double-edged blade of celebrity.

  3. I think she’s good eye candy, but she can’t act period.

  4. I think I lump Kristen Stewart and Stephenie Meyer in the same category – both are typecast, and hard to assess without some other measuring stick beyond Twilight to compare both of them to….

Is Kristen Stewart a terrible actress, as her performance might indicate? Or is she a great actress at playing a brooding and awkward teenage girl?

In the same vein, one certainly can’t argue with the incredible success of the Twilight series. All the same, I found the books to be poorly written….basically bad technical writing saved by a good story. OR….were they very well written from the perspective of an awkward teenage female main character, for a target audience consisting largely of female teenagers?

I’ve read all the books, and I’ve seen all the movies. Fan of the story, but not a fan of Stewart’s acting or Meyer’s writing. However, until I see either of them do something else, I will remain unable to render my verdict as to whether their respective performances are bad or brilliant!

  5. She is not a bad actress. However, we have yet to see if she is a good actress.

I will say, though, that throughout the Twilight movies she continued to do something that completely irked me, and can thus be summed up in the BONUS ROUND of this video from Cinema Sin.

    • Thanks Chris. Now I’ll be checking every movie I’ve ever watched for their “sin tally.” Just like I’ve spent the last week watching “literal music videos.”

  6. Kristin Stewart has as much acting ability as a wet dish rag. Chris, THANK TOU FOR THEVIDEO! Lol! It pretty much summed it up! Lol! PS: I’d do anything to see her laugh her ass off hysterically! Just go nuts! 🙂
