Where To From Here

How many of you watched the movie Silence Of The Lambs with Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins? Do you remember the armchair gripping scene where Clarice (Jodie Foster) has to crawl under a garage door into a storage area with the door held up only by a flimsy car jack? This will refresh your memory:

That is currently what blogging feels like to me. I have always been gifted with the ability to write since I was a kid and now it appears unfamiliar as I peer into an unknown space that causes me great anxiety. As I said before in my previous post that you can read here , the sun will come up tomorrow.

The benefit of having your own blog is you can write about anything you want. I contemplated hundreds of times over the past couple of years to get back into writing yet I kept running into one major hitch, I no longer had my muse. That would be Phoenix, my Golden Retriever, who passed away four years ago this month and a post was written by “him” to me here regarding that.

For those of you that enjoy my writing be patient as I get my blogging legs back. Whether my writing savvy returns or not will happen (or not) of it’s own accord.

Have a great upcoming week and I can always be found driving down the long, open roads in a 2018 white Jeep Grand Cherokee.

So, be sure to wave as I would love to stop and chat!

I have been told (many times) that I really need to write a book about my life. The past 40+ years have been an exciting ride, and these days I find myself with a great many passions. However, I feel that this website is a much more personal way with which to share my musings, stories, commentary, and (of course) my greatest love... my Golden Retriever, Phoenix.

  1. Hi Mike; Öne day at a time” as they say. You are a talented writer, there’s no question about that, but you should do whatever makes you happy. Now is the time to enjoy life to the fullest. That said, you have so many fans who would love to see you publishing here once again. 🙂

  2. You’re writing skills never left you! You have such a gift!!

Seriously though, “Silence of the lambs”??? That’s intense haha.

    P.S. Picture of your Jeep?

  3. You can’t go wrong with a shot of the open road – endless possibilities!

    • Oh yes sir and you’ve known me a long time. That’s my thing and I know you and your wife love it as much as I do! 🙂

  4. It’s a little overwhelming, right? My life is changing too and my muse isn’t the same…I’m in a place where I need to change direction but not sure how to do it. The blank screen doesn’t help. I totally get where you’re coming from.

Phoenix’s voice was such a treasure…(your voice as Phoenix) and I know you will find that again but maybe in a different way. I could see you becoming recipe focused with some road trip (in your new truck) blogs where you feature a restaurant review. 😉 Well, no pressure at all tho!! Love your voice, Mike. I’ve missed you in the blogging world as have so many of your friends.

Nice to see you back and enjoy your new truck!! Sweet wheels!

    • What a wonderful comment about Phoenix and also thank you for being so candid Lisa!

My experience I’ve learned the past couple of years is that it’s often best to allow life energy go in the direction it’s mean to. Rather than trying to force or choreograph it our way.

So with the blank screen it’s ok for it to be blank right now. Allow it. That is only my thoughts and opinion.

I’m wishing you the very best!!

  5. What a joy to find this post Mike. Climb back into the saddle slowly. I’m sure it will feel comfortable soon! xxxx

    • Hi Jackie! Yes, I’m going very, very slowly right now. I so appreciate your support! I hope this finds you well! 🙂

  6. I’ll sure wave you down if I ever see you on the road so we can chat AND go have a meal! Joe and I love to eat! We are very new to the blogging world and learning our way! You certainly have a way with words and from what I have read have lots of life experiences that you can draw inspiration from! I thoroughly enjoy reading your roaming the roads and food posts! I love your blog posts- have not read them all! The Thanksgiving post by Phoenix was great! Now that you are retired, it seems to me that you are doing just what you need to do to “mentally decompress “ and during this process your heart and mind are leading you to what is next!

    • Thank you so much for stopping by Rosita! That would be fun to chat and have a meal if the three of us ever cross paths! I appreciate the compliment and have a great day!
