The short answer · Estimate

About £480 million (about $640 million to $650 million)

The Sunday Times Rich List 2026 valued Sir Elton John at £480 million, 277th in the UK [1][2]. That pound figure is as reported by lovemoney, which converted it to about $645 million [1]; ABC Audio gave the rank and “almost $640 million” [2]. Celebrity Net Worth, a separate estimate site, says $650 million [3]. His money comes from records, songwriting, touring and Las Vegas residencies across a career that began in 1962 [11].

Confidence: medium. Four of the five published figures come from one yearly survey, the Sunday Times Rich List [1][2][4][5], and its year-by-year figures are set out in the table below. The 2026 pound figure is second-hand, as reported by lovemoney [1]. The dollar conversions are the publishers’, not ours.

How we estimate Elton John’s net worth

We estimate it by setting the published figures side by side and tracing each one to its origin. The Sunday Times Rich List is our anchor, because it values UK residents every year. None of these figures is official.

Our method

Mostly one survey. Four of the five figures above come from the Sunday Times Rich List [1][2][4][5]; Celebrity Net Worth is the only separate estimate [3]. The 2026 pound figure is the one lovemoney reported from the list [1].

How we built the range. The current figures run from almost $640 million [2] through about $645 million [1] to $650 million [3]. The lowest recent figure, £470 million or about $597 million, is from 2024 [5], so we treat it as out of date. Every dollar figure here is the publisher’s own conversion; we don’t convert pounds ourselves.

Alone or with David Furnish. He married David Furnish in 2014 [11]. None of the sources cited here says whether the Rich List counts Sir Elton alone or the couple together, so we write “the Rich List valued Sir Elton at” and leave the question open.

Gross is not pay. The farewell tour grossed $939.1 million [12][14] and the two Las Vegas residencies $169.7 million and $131.2 million [16][17]. Those are ticket sales. Venue, promoter, crew and production costs come out of them, and his own share was not published, so we never treat them as his income.

His company is not his fortune. His artiste services company, William A Bong Limited, reported net assets of £4,470,640 at 31 March 2026 [19]. It files small-company accounts with no profit and loss account, so its turnover and profit are not public. Wikipedia lists his homes, led by Woodside in Old Windsor, and one of the largest private photography collections in the world [11]; Celebrity Net Worth values his art at $100 million to $200 million [3].

What we left out. Figures that appear only on gallery pages or in search snippets, with no traceable original, are not used here.

We update this page when a new deal, sale or filing moves the range; the “updated” date changes only then. The same method is used for all our net worth estimates; read how we research.

Where Elton John’s money comes from

Elton John’s money comes from record sales, songwriting and publishing, world tours and two long Las Vegas residencies. He and Bernie Taupin started as staff songwriters at Dick James’s DJM Records in 1968 [11].

Income streamWhat is reportedSource
Touring: Farewell Yellow Brick Road (2018 to 2023)$939.1 million gross from 330 shows and about 6.1 million tickets, Billboard Boxscore figures as reported. This is ticket revenue, not his pay[12][13][14][15]
Las Vegas residencies at Caesars PalaceThe Red Piano (2004 to 2009): 247 shows, $169,661,805 gross. The Million Dollar Piano (2011 to 2018): 197 shows, $131,190,796 gross. Celebrity Net Worth puts his own pay at $500,000 a night, an estimate[16][17][3]
Record deals and salesA US$8 million contract with MCA Records in 1974. Over 300 million records sold worldwide. Elton John’s Greatest Hits (1974) is certified Diamond by the RIAA for 17 million US copies[11]
Music publishingIn 1992 he and Bernie Taupin signed with Warner/Chappell Music for an estimated $39 million over 12 years, including the largest cash advance in music publishing history at the time[11][3]
Yearly earnings (Forbes)Highest-paid male solo musician on Forbes’ lists: $30 million (2002), $53 million (2007) and $100 million (2011)[18]
Earnings in 2023City AM reported that he made £20 million in 2023, mainly from music[6]
Touring-year income (estimate site)Celebrity Net Worth says he makes $80 million in a touring year; that is a model, not a filing[3]
His company, William A Bong LimitedArtiste services company incorporated in 1970, owned 75% or more by WAB Topco Limited, whose person with significant control is Sir Elton. Net assets £4,470,640 at 31 March 2026; 20 average employees. Company figures, not personal income[19][20]

The farewell tour was the highest-grossing tour ever when it ended, a record since passed by Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour [12][11]. City AM linked his 2024 Rich List rise to that tour and his Glastonbury headline set [6]. The tour ran from 8 September 2018 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to 8 July 2023 in Stockholm [12].

William A Bong Limited shows how little of his fortune is visible in filings. Its net assets were about £1.30 million at 5 April 2021, £310 at 31 March 2022 and £8.50 million at 31 March 2023, then fell to £7.90 million, £5,481,898 and £4,470,640 over the next three year-ends [19]. It held £3,012,120 in cash at 31 March 2026 [19]. WAB Topco Limited, its parent, filed dormant accounts for 2025 and 2026 [20]. These are the company’s figures and swing with what it pays out; they are not his personal wealth.

Elton John on the Sunday Times Rich List, year by year

The Sunday Times Rich List valued Sir Elton at £175 million in 2009 [11][10] and at £480 million in 2026 [1], and each published figure from 2019 in the table is higher than the one before. Each figure below is as a publisher reported it; the rank is his place among all UK residents unless the row says otherwise.

The one fall in the table is 2009, when Pollstar reported that his figure dropped from £235 million to £175 million [10]. From 2019 the reported figures are £320 million [11], £360 million in 2020 [9], £375 million in 2021 [8], £450 million in 2023 [7], £470 million in 2024 [5][6], £475 million in 2025 [4] and £480 million in 2026 [1]. By our arithmetic from those cited figures, the rises are £40 million (2020), £15 million (2021), £75 million across 2022 and 2023 together (2022 not checked), £20 million (2024), £5 million (2025) and £5 million (2026) [9][8][7][6][4][1]. Ultimate Classic Rock credited the 2020 rise to the farewell tour [9].

The 2026 pound figure comes only from lovemoney [1]; ABC Audio gave the rank and a dollar figure [2]. None of the sources cited here says whether the entries count him alone or with David Furnish.

Property and assets reported

His reported assets are homes in England, France, Italy and the US, a large art and photography collection, an interest in Watford FC and his company. Only a few have a published price, and most of those come from an estimate site, not a land registry.

William A Bong Limited (via WAB Topco Limited)Company net assets £4,470,640 and cash £3,012,120 at 31 March 2026. These belong to the company, not to him personally[19][20]

What could change the number

The next Sunday Times Rich List is the thing most likely to move this number; the last three were reported in mid-May [5][4][2].

The farewell tour, his largest reported gross, closed on 8 July 2023 [11]. In the Rich Lists published since, his figure rose £20 million in 2024 [6], £5 million in 2025 [4] and, by our arithmetic from £475 million to £480 million, £5 million in 2026 [4][1]. His company’s net assets have also fallen for three years running, from £8.50 million to £4,470,640 [19], though that is the company’s money, not his.

Spending matters too. In 2000 he admitted spending £30 million in just under two years [11]. A large property or art sale, or a new catalogue or publishing deal like the 1992 Warner/Chappell agreement [11], could move the next valuation.
